A TEA required part of the graduation process is for families to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or TASFA (Texas Application for State Financial Aid), or the Opt Out Form (found in Skyward). All of these forms will be open to fill out starting December 1, 2024.
To prepare and assist you with this process, here are a few helpful resources to review prior to the applications opening on December 1st. Thank you to our partners, Collin College, for these resources. :
You will choose either the FAFSA (US Citizens & Residents) or TASFA, not both.

All student’s parent(s)/guardians must provide information
Both the student and one parent need to apply for an FSA ID.
One parent & student must provide different email addresses.

The 2025-2026 Fall and Spring priority deadline for Texas state financial aid programs is February 15, 2025. This includes the Texas GRANT Program. We recommend that you complete your FAFSA/TASFA application by January 31st, 2025 to avoid processing delays.
