Dear Lakeland families,

My name is Vanesa Asbun, and it is a pleasure to be Lakeland’s Principal for this seventh year!

I am originally from Bolivia, but have been in Texas for the past 20 years. I have family in Bolivia, Mexico and Spain. I am married and have two wonderful kids who keep me busy, but make every minute worth living.

I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and have worked with kids in the clinical field for two years. My educational career started 20 years ago at  Irving ISD where I taught 3rd grade and 4th grade Dual Language. I was also an Instructional Coach for K-5th, LPAC Lead and World Language Specialist for 11 schools. My last year at Irving was as an Administrative Assistant. Since 2015, I have been in LISD as an Assistant Principal at Creekside Elementary.  

I am excited to start year seven as Principal of Lakeland Elementary. I know it will be an amazing school year. I firmly believe that every student will grow academically, socially and emotionally, and that Lakeland is the place to be.  We are committed to making all students thrive in their lives! I cannot be prouder to work and serve in LISD. 

I look forward to meeting all of you and working together to make Lakeland the best school that can be!

Mi nombre es Vanesa Asbun y es un gusto ser la directora de Lakeland en este séptimo año!

Yo nací en Bolivia, pero vivo en Texas hace 20 años. Todavía tengo familia en Bolivia, y también en México y España.  Soy casada y tengo dos hijos maravillosos que me mantienen ocupada, pero que hacen que cada minute con ellos valga la pena.

Poseo una Maestría en Psicología Clínica y trabajé con niños en esa área por dos años. Hace 20 años empecé mi carrera en educación en el Distrito de Irving. Enseñe 3ro y 4to grade Dual Language. Fui Asesora de Instrucción, LPAC Lead y Especialista de Lenguaje para 11 escuelas. En el 2015 empecé de Asistente de Director en la escuela de Creekside aquí en LISD.

Estoy extremadamente contenta de empezar el séptimo año como directora de Lakeland. Se que será un año maravilloso! Creo firmemente que todo niño puede crecer académicamente, emocionalmente y socialmente, y Lakeland es el mejor lugar para ellos. ¡Estamos comprometidos a que todos los niños tengan éxito en sus vidas!

¡Me encantaría conocerlos y trabajar juntos para que Lakeland sea la mejor escuela que puede ser! 

Me siento muy orgullosa de trabajar para un Distrito como LISD.
