Ms. Harrison holds a Bachelor's Degree with a double major in Music Education and Vocal Performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Her Master's Degree is from the University of North Texas in Choral Conducting. She is passionate about building the choral program at Huffines Middle School! As a young mezzo-soprano Lauren sang in opera programs in Italy, Key West, Colorado Springs, Georgia State University, and competed extensively in vocal auditions and competitions including the Metropolitan Opera Regional Auditions. She worked in Peachtree City, Georgia as an assistant Choir Director for three years. In her final year there the top choir was selected to perform for the Georgia Music Educator's Convention. During this time Lauren also toured with Capitol City and performed with the Atlanta Opera. Following Graduate school in 2008 Lauren worked as the Assistant Choir Director at Naaman Forest High School in Garland ISD. During this time she also performed with Garland Summer Musicals in "The Sound of Music."
In 2010 Lauren became the Head Director at Colleyville Heritage High School where for four years her groups consistently earned the highest rating at UIL competitions. The program there traveled to Paris and performed in Notre Dame Cathedral and performed Vivaldi's Gloria with period instruments in a collaborative project. Also during this time her sons Andrew and Collin were born. They are 8 and 11. In 2014 Lauren transitioned to working part-time as a private voice teacher and started a community women's choir in Farmers Branch. She sang for seven years with the Fort Worth Chorale and performed with the Dallas Bach Society. She is currently singing with Orpheus Chamber Singers, one of the premier professional chamber choirs in Dallas. She is also the Choir Director at Christ United Methodist Church in Farmer's Branch. She is committed to musical excellence and the success of her students in life and music. Ms. Harrison is also a single mom to two sons.
