Lewisville Chamber Awards - March 2025

TECC East students, staff and school were recognized at the Lewisville Chamber luncheon at Main Event in Lewisville, Texas on Tuesday, March 25. 

Student of the Month – Denzel Acosta
Denzel is a senior at Hebron High School and began taking courses at TECC East in his sophomore year. Denzel is the first TECC East male student to earn the Texas State Cosmetology License, which he completed in December and is currently enrolled in the Dental Assistant program and will test for that license in May.  Upon graduation, Denzel intends to work as a dental assistant while pursuing a real estate license.

Exceptional Student of the Month – Miranda Arroyo 
Miranda is a senior at Lewisville High School and a student in the Health Science program working towards her Medical Assistant License. She has overcome the challenges she has faced to be a successful leader. During her time at TECC East, she has grown into a mature and confident young lady. Upon graduation, Miranda plans to attend college and pursue a degree in nursing.

Teacher of the Month – Kay Coleman
Kay Coleman is in her tenth year of being a Cosmetology Instructor at TECC East. During her time at TECC East, she has instructed and assisted hundreds of students in achieving their Texas State Cosmetology Operators License. Ms. K – as the students call her – is an extremely kind and caring person who has had a positive impact on the lives of countless students.

School of the Month – TECC East
TECC East is a career and technical campus serving over 1,400 students from all five high schools in LISD. TECC East offers thirteen programs of study, including Dental Assistant and Off Road Diesel that opened in January and a Welding program that will open in August 2025. In the 2023-2024 school year, 882 Industry Based Certifications (IBCs) as recognized by the State of Texas were earned by students attending TECC East.
